The member for Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency has continued to receive accolades, awards and goodwill due to his sterling legislative performance with the latest coming from online and print news reporters under the aegis of ASSEMBLY WATCH and members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN).
The groups together awarded the lawmaker whom they described as versatile with the Assembly Man of the Year award in LAWMAKING 2019 and the ASSEMBLY Man of the Year award in Effective Representation 2019 respectively.
Receiving the groups in his office at the Assembly complex recently, Elder Aniekan Uko dedicated the award first to the Almighty God who is the giver of wisdom and ability to represent the people of his constituency whose mandate brought him to the House of Assembly to represent them and for his family for providing a conducive environment to function well.
He returned all glory to God Almighty for choosing him among over 100,000 eligible constituents of Ibesikpo Asutan and dedicated the two awards to his constituents whose mandate has brought him to the hallowed chambers of the House for a second term.
Uko appreciated his wife, Ememobong, and his two sons, Emaemek and Amekidabasi, for their prayers, sacrifices and encouragement which have given him the inspiration to excel in his legislative duties to the people.
While thanking the two groups for finding him fit and worthy for the two prestigious legislative awards, the lawmaker assured that the awards would serve as a booster to do more in 2020 and beyond.
The co-ordinator, Comrade Courage Mbon, maintained that the award did not come out of sentiment or parochial interest, but closely monitored the superlative performance of Uko in his lawmaking and legislative duties and decided to appreciate excellence, describing him as a five star lawmaker who has been consistent.
"We see in you a lawmaker who is consistent, vocal in his presentations and with human-oriented motions and bills which have inspired us to present the award to you. If we were to assess roll-call of members attendance at plenary, the trophy would have undoubtedly been yours because you have rarely been absent in sittings and you are always on your seat till sittings adjourn. That is a rare credential in you and it has not escaped our eagle eyes,†Mbon stated.
While handing the plaques to Uko who is fondly called "IBOROAKAM,†the group congratulated him for the historic achievements, assuring that they will continue to give him the needed support and motivation to record success in his legislative engagements and duties.
