In a move to showcase the peace and serenity that Akwa Ibom State has come to be known for, the state government has announced the plans to unveil the Ibom Peace Monument in Uyo, the state capital.
Commissioner for culture and tourism, Mr Orman Esin, told newsmen in Uyo that the monument, strategically located along Airport Road in Uyo, is a signpost for all visitors to the state that Akwa Ibom is the home of peace.
Esin said the government has invested so much in the security architecture and strategic partnerships to achieve lasting peace in the state and as such deserves to be marketed.
The tourism commissioner noted that Akwa Ibom remains the safest haven for investors because of its human and capital resources and the enabling environment required for businesses to thrive.
He urged Nigerians to see Akwa Ibom as their second home where they can relax to the warmth of nature, a hospitable people and irresistible delicacies.
The official unveiling of Ibom Peace Monument at Airport road, Uyo will take place on a date to be announced soon.
