The apex decision-making body in Midim Clan, Abak Local Government Area, the Afe Midim has pledged to support, cooperate and work together with the paramount ruler of Abak, Okuku Saviour Sylvester Udofia, for the peace, unity and development of the area.
The organization made the pledge when the international president, Eteidung Apostle O. Ibanga, led other executive members on a courtesy visit to the paramount ruler in his palace at Ikot Ala Udo in Otoro, Abak recently.
In his address, the international president said the visit was to thank and formally congratulate Okuku Udofia on his elevation from clan head to the exalted position of the paramount ruler of Abak.
Ibanga informed the monarch, that Afe Midim is the apex decision-making body in Midim Clan, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission and with membership cutting across all strata of life within the clan.
The international president recalled that few years ago, Afe Midim alongside other socio-cultural organizations in Afaha Obong and Otoro Clans met to fashion a co-operative process amongst the three clans making up what is now called Eastern Annang.
"Your Royal Majesty, it is based on the spirit of that unity and oneness that we are here today to appreciate you for what God has done for you. Your Royal Majesty, it is believed that you will use your good and exalted office to foster the much-needed unity and development amongst these three clans and by extension the entire clans of Abak Local Government Areaâ€, the address read in part.
Ibanga, who is also the chairman, Conference of Village Heads, Abak Chapter, expressed the hope that as a God-fearing monarch and with his wealth of experience, Okuku Udofia will surpass the achievements of his predecessors and assured him that Afe Midim will continue to support him with prayers to succeed.
Responding, the paramount ruler, Okuku Saviour Udofia, flanked by the paramount ruler of Okobo, Edidem Ita Okokon and other palace chiefs, thanked the leadership of Afe Midim for their love, support and show of solidarity as demonstrated by the visit.
Okuku Udofia described the three clans making up Eastern Annang as one and called on the people of the area to unite and work together for the peace and development of the area.
The paramount ruler assured the visitors of his readiness to run an open-door administration where constructive criticism and advises aimed at moving Abak forward will be welcomed.
He made a case for the three clans to come together under one umbrella so as to chart a common course.
Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of a Holy Bible by Apostle Ibanga and other gifts to the paramount ruler.
Among the Afe Midim delegation were the international secretary, Barr Victor Offong; treasurer, Lady Theresa Etuk; legal adviser, Barr Cyprian Udosen; PRO, Adede Eman Edem; welfare officer, Mr Saviour Hanson; BOT chairman, Alphonsus Idung; BOT member, Mr Aloysius Ekpo, among others.
