Gov Emmanuel Urges A'Ibom People To Embrace Agriculture

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has reminded the people of the need to embrace agriculture in all its ramifications for food sufficiency to become a reality.
   Emmanuel gave the reminder while commenting on his administration's commitment to agricultural development in the state during a joint radio and television interactive session in Uyo that was meant for him to shed more light on the global Covid-19 pandemic affecting the socio-economic development of the state.
   The state chief executive officer said embracing agriculture in all aspects would enable the people to complement government efforts of supplying sufficient raw materials, especially coconut to the Saint Gabriel Oil factory in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, billed for commissioning before the year ends.
  He said priority attention would not have been given to the establishment of a fertilizer blending factory, garri processing mills, Kings Flour Mill, among others in the state and free distribution of  improved cassava cuttings, hybrid plantain suckers, hybrid maize seeds, cocoa seedlings, agrochemicals, interest-free loans to Akwa Ibom farmers by his administration but for the importance of agriculture to economic growth and human existence.
  The governor explained that the Technical Committee on Agriculture and Food Sufficiency could not have been created by his administration but for the growth and development of agriculture in all its ramifications for the benefit of all in the state.
  Emmanuel called on Akwa Ibom people to avail themselves of the windows of opportunities offered by his administration to embrace agriculture as a lucrative venture for them to achieve greatness in life, advising them to identify with the Kings Flour Mill in Onna through regular supply of raw materials to encourage optimal production.
   His words: "Let everybody go back to farming to encourage the supply of raw materials to the existing industries in the state. We have a fertilizer blending factory at Oku Abak for the blending of fertilizer for farmers to use for the production of agricultural produce.
   He recalled with delight that the provision of Covid-19 palliative to the people were made possible because of the rice, garri and flour distributed were all produced in the state through the rice mills, Kings Flour Mill and garri processing mills that were established by his administration to process agricultural produce.
