A public affairs analyst and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Michael Obasuyi, has predicted that the September 19, 2020 governorship election in Edo State would be historic and change the democratic landscape of Nigeria. He assured that the PDP will defeat the ruling party - All Progressives Congress (APC) - with a nail biting margin in
the process and unlock a catastrophic leadership. The Edo State PDP chieftain disclosed this in a press release recently in Benin City. He warned those planning to make the state unbearable in a bid to realize their electoral mandate to either relocate from the state or contend with the wrath of the law. He also advised the various aspirants' political parties, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other stakeholders in the poll to play by the rule and shun illegality
in order to pave the way for credible, free and fair election which is a moral burden on the electoral umpire. According to him, "People who think they have the monopoly of power will be disappointed, because they will discover that they are powerless. This election will be almost impossible to be rigged because the system is being overhauled in the process leading to the contestation. "The PDP will coast to victory, and defeat the APC; a party of miscreants 'agberos' and opportunists who masquerade as saints to sway public opinion, he said. Obasuyi, however, said that he has no preferred aspirant at the moment, adding that "anyone that God has destined to take the party to power is who I shall support, and would win the election. The analyst urged the leadership of the parties to enlighten delegates on guidelines ahead of the primaries in order to minimize the margin of errors occasioned by void votes during the exercise.
