The head Akwa Ibom State Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, has received the report of the 2019 promotion exercise organized for senior officers in the state public service. Receiving the report in his office, Essien thanked the workers'-friendly governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for approving the conduct of 2019 promotion, adding that it will motivate the workforce for increased productivity as well as promote industrial harmony in the state. The civil service helmsman thanked the commission, led by the chairman, Mr. Sunny Akpadiaha, for their painstaking effort, timely handling of service issues as well as the completion of the 2019 promotion exercise. He noted that it will eliminate the issue of cumulated promotion arrears. He said that the report will be forwarded to the governor, for further necessary action. The chairman, Civil Service Commission, Mr Sunny Akpadiaha, who was accompanied by some members of the commission and management staff, thanked the governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for giving approval for the conduct of the 2019 Promotion and described it as very unique and a deviation from the previous era of backlog of promotions. The commission chairman, Akpadiaha, regretted the slight delay in completion of the exercise occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic and assured that with the submission of the 2019 report, the commission was ready to commence action on the 2020 promotion formalities. He thanked the head of civil service for his pivotal role and for his efforts at repositioning the civil service. He prayed for increased grace and wisdom upon him to lead the service to an enviable height. Akpadiaha acknowledged and commended the state governor for the ongoing training of the workers and called for more of such training in the service to refresh and equip the workforce for optimal productivity. In attendance were commissioners in the Civil Service Commission, permanent secretaries and directors.
