PDP Will Grow Stronger, Claim More States In Coming Elections - Gov Emmanuel, Secondus

The National Working Committee (NWC) and the Akwa Ibom chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have pledged to turn back the political compass of Nigerians to positive direction in the country.

Consequently, Gov Udom Emmanuel and the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, have given strong hopes that the PDP would wax stronger and stronger to claim more states in further political contests in the country.

The duo of Emmanuel and Secondus gave the assurances in their separate statements at the inauguration of the Akwa Ibom chapter of the PDP permanent office complex, which took place at Atan Offot, Uyo, at the weekend.

Emmanuel specifically said that the road map to reawakening sustainable political consciousness of Nigerians was the initiative of the Akwa Ibom Chapter of the party to construct a permanent secretariat, explaining that the success of the project was a fulfilment of purposeful leadership by the immediate-past state working committee of the party in the state.

He remarked that the political interests, aspirations and achievements of individuals in Akwa Ibom emanate from structures of the PDP since the reintroduction of democracy in the country, maintaining that the PDP has been the foundation of unity and has raised Akwa Ibom to heights in the comity of Nigerian states.

The governor said that the Akwa Ibom chapter of the PDP was appreciative of the sacrifices of past and serving members in the Board of Trustees and the National Working Committee of the party by making the state proud at all moments, assuring that the Akwa Ibom chapter of the PDP was still committed to remaining in fairness to the people of the state.

Emmanuel said the state PDP permanent secretariat has class distinction in quality and ambience to boost the strength of leadership in political governance of the state and the country, maintaining that the state secretariat would be ready to host national programmes and events of the party with support from exceptional services of Ibom airline in the state.

He stated that Akwa Ibom chapter of the PDP has made history in the construction of the secretariat through direct labour and supervision of members, noting that the immediate-past officers carried out the operations and management of the party affairs satisfactorily in the state.

Secondus said that successful construction of the state secretariat of the PDP was a true reflection of distinctive leadership of the party in Akwa Ibom, adding that it was an assurance to Nigerians that the PDP repositioned itself to keep waxing stronger every other day in politics and governance of states in the country.

He said that the steps of the PDP were focused on ensuring that every member has equal stake in contesting any political position in the country, explaining that the PDP would not delve into dangers of imposing a national leader on the party.

Secondus assured that the new hope of democracy has dawned on the PDP to offer platforms of realizing dreams and aspirations of all Nigerians, stressing that the generality of Nigerians have seen the difference in governance at the painful experimentation of other political parties in the administration of the country.

The national chairman said that other states have the obligations of emulating Akwa Ibom Chapter of the PDP in collaborating to build platforms of sustaining democracy in the country, remarking that the Akwa Ibom chapter of the PDP has exhibited strength and faith in leading the people of the state.

He hoped that the Akwa Ibom secretariat of the PDP would provide facilities for the hosting of national conferences, national executive council meetings and workshops of the party, calling on the entire members of the Akwa Ibom PDP to rally round leaders of the party in the state for more attainments.

The outgone chairman of the state chapter of the PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, said that the desire to build a permanent secretariat was borne out of travails encountered by the party in taking appropriate accommodation, noting that the party has moved from one section of the state capital to another within the period of entry into the state.

Ekpo stated that the permanent secretariat has 45 offices, a 1,000 capacity auditorium for conferences and workshops as well as a publicity suite, noting that the success story was the contributions of the past leaders and the entire members of the party in Akwa Ibom.

The inauguration featured presentation of the Akwa Ibom PDP in-house magazine The Scroll, inspection of the facilities and dedication of the premises by ministers of God, watched by members of the PDP and royal fat
