Ini Lawmaker Commends Gov Emmanuel On 2021 Budget

The member of Ini State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly has commended Gov Udom Emmanuel over the 2021 budget sent to the House of Assembly as executive bill seeking its consideration and subsequent passage by the state legislators. 

 Mr Emmanuel Ekpenyong who is also the chief whip in the House made the commendations during plenary recently while speaking in support of the 2021 Appropriation Bill which has scaled second reading on the floor of the House.

 "Mr Speaker, I rise in support of this bill and I must thank Governor Emmanuel, looking at the budget tagged "Budget of Economic Reconstruction, I said to myself that the governor knows what he is doing, the governor is very cerebral and really understands the season. Going through the budget, the allocation given to each sector is very accurate.

 I must commend the governor for this. I have observed that about 60 per cent is being allocated to capital expenditures, while about 40 per cent is for recurrent expenditures, Ekpenyong stated. 

 He hoped that more roads, hospitals and schools would be constructed which are capital projects, adding that he was in total and full support of the bill as they will do justice to it for the general interest and development of the state when it gets to the committee level. 

 Others who spoke in support of the bill included the leader of the House, Sir Udo Kierian Akpan, who gave an overview of the budget, saying that about 61 per cent of the budget was channeled to economic sector, the deputy speaker of the House, Princess Felicia Bassey, member for Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency, Elder Aniekan Uko, member for Etinan State Constituency, Mr Aniefiok Dennis and the member for Ikot Abasi/ Eastern Obolo State Constituency, Mr Uduak Ududoh, who is also the chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriations.
