Oron Chairman-Elect Restates Commitment ForAn All-Inclusive Governance

The chairman-elect of Oron Local Government Council, Pastor Efiong Ubokulo, has again reassured the people of his administration's resolve to remain focused and committed in improving the human capital and infrastructural status of the area in a bid to keep with the good governance tradition of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state. Pastor Ubokulo gave the assurance recently while inaugurating a nine member Transition Implementation Committee mandated to execute a hitch free transition of leadership mantle from the outgoing to the incoming administration. The incoming council helmsman who handed the committee a nine-point term of reference for efficient delivery of their mandate, said his incoming administration was poised to ensure the implementation of lofty programmes and policies for the overall benefit of Oron people. The committee ably chaired by Mr Bassey Willie, with Mr John Ekpenyong as secretary, also have other tested technocrats drawn from across various interest groups including the outgoing government, such as; Hon. Mrs Eno Etta Asuquo, Mr Effiom Essien Etim, Elder Anietie Okon, Mr Peter Effiong Bassey, Mr Evang. Mrs Sarah Efretuei, Mr Elder Enamie Bassey, and Chief Ini Ekpo as members. While charging the committee to consult with relevant stakeholders to get a suitable date for the official presentation of hand over note by the outgoing administration, the incoming council boss noted that the task ahead of the incoming local government administration would be made easier, if relevant documents of government, administrative database of projects and facilities as well as other programmes and policies of the outgoing administration are properly documented to form a veritable working tool and a guide for a smooth takeoff of the incoming administration. He thanked all the stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him and pledged his administration's determination to live up to the expectations of the people without fail.In his acceptance speech, the chairman, Mr Bassey Willie, who on behalf of the committee, expressed satisfaction and confidence in the leadership capacity of the incoming council administration, thanked the chairmanelect and other stakeholders for deeming them fit for the execution of the onerous assignment. Mr Willie therefore promised to liaise with all the necessary authorities in order to bring to bear a smooth and peaceful transition process in the area. Some of the committee terms of reference include; to Undertake a facility tour of all the project sites executed by the outgoing council administration to determine their present status, ascertain their payment history and document with reasons why such projects are in their present status. Compile a comprehensive template that will guide the outgoing government to prepare a hand over note to the incoming government. Prepare a workable inventory in consultation with the outgoing government, with an up-todate record of assets and liabilities, including moveable and immovable properties of the council which shall be inherited by the incoming administration. Wide consultation with relevant sources with the view to helping the incoming administration with necessary documents, facts, data and information to make work easier for its takeoff, as well as 'to retrieve through lawful means any local government properties which is in custody or possession any individual, group of persons or organizations' among others. The committee is to submit its report within two weeks for prompt implementation.
