Akwatang explained that the committee which prays for the government and people of the state through the support of the governor, utilize the offerings got at the prayer meetings to support the less- privileged homes.

The chairman who heaped praises on the founder of the home for her initiative, prayed God to heal the aged patients for them to live and enjoy the fruits of their labour.

He observed that caring for the aged was a challenging task and extolled the care givers for a job well done.

Bassey also charged the caregivers to see their work as service to God and humanity, would reward them abundantly. The director of the home, Mrs Christiana Ekerete, said the center was established in 2008 as a non- governmental organization to provide geriatric health care.

Ekerete, a retired deputy director of nursing, stated that services offered by the home include: the management of geriatric related health challenges, home-based care, and free healthcare, promotion of human resources and technical support as well as consultancy services.

She appreciated the governor and the committee for extending their benevolence to the centre through the prayer committee.
