Agric Ministry Appreciates Retired Staff With Gifts
The Ministry of Agriculture
has hosted its 2018 to 2020
retired staff to a farewell
ceremony for the purpose of appreciating them for their contributions to the all round growth
and progress of the ministry.
The event, which was held at
the Civil Service Auditorium,
Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat,
Uyo, featured special prayers,
dance session and presentation of
gifts to the retirees by the management of the Ministry.
The commissioner for agriculture, Dr Glory Edet, while addressing the retirees, expressed
appreciation for their positive
contributions to the Ministry
during their service years, assuring that the Ministry would continue to carry them along in the
promotion of food production in
the state.
Edet, who is also the dean,
College of Commissioners and
Special Advisers, enjoined the retirees of the ministry to continue
to keep themselves busy by learning new crafts in their next phase of
life.
Earlier, the director of administration in the Ministry, Mr. Ifiok
Udo, appreciated the commissioner for her vision to celebrate
the retirees, noting that such initiative would go a long way to
encourage the present staff to contribute their utmost to the growth
and development of the Ministry.
In their separate goodwill messages, directors in the Ministry,
Mr Emmanuel Akpan, Mrs Mary
Eyo, Mr Aniefiok Isong, Lady
Nse Ekpenyong, Mr Solomon
John, the national president of
Coconut Association, Okoroji and
the programme manager, Akwa
Ibom Agricultural Development
Programme (AKADEP), Mr
Okon Ndehedehe, all thanked the
commissioner for organising the
event to honour those who served
the Ministry of Agriculture meritoriously, describing the gesture as
rare and first of its kind.
They all wished the retirees
well and prayed God to sustain
and keep them to live long and
reap more fruits of their labours.
The immediate past permanent
secretary in the Ministry, Dr
John Markson, as well as Mrs
Essien Uweh and Mr Monday
Akpabio, in their separate responses on the occasion, on behalf of the retirees, lauded Gov
Udom Emmanuel for appointing
Dr Glory Edet to the Ministry of
Agriculture, describing her as a
square peg in a square hole.
They appreciated the commissioner for honouring them in such
an elevated manner and prayed
God to richly reward her.
