AK NAWOJ Appreciates God For Success At Poll ...Editor, Comrade Helen Udofa, Emerges National Secretary

Timelines, newspaper pages and WhatsApp groups were flooded with congratulatory messages to Comrade Helen Udofa, editor (Daily), of Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation, publishers of The Pioneer Newspapers, while cover pages of tabloids did not miss the victory story. In fact, the celebration was massive just as the support she got at the elections. This celebration came on the heels of a successful election and her victory as the national secretary of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) at the 10th Triennial National Delegates Conference at Minna, Niger State this month. The support was massive with a total of 547 votes against 266, with eight invalid votes. The victory was followed with a thanksgiving service to God led by the chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ), Akwa Ibom State Chapter Comrade Uduak Ekong, in respect of Comrade Helen Udofa's landslide victory during the keenly contested election held at Niger State, Nigeria. The thanksgiving service which took place at The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Nung Udo Akpan District, Obio Imo Area, witnessed a large turnout of worshippers who came to appreciate God with the pastor in-charge of the district, Pastor Anietie Umoh in attendance. In his sermon, the Uyo Field Superintendent of The Apostolic Church, Nigeria, Apostle Ime N. George, who spoke on the theme, Encountering God Through Thanksgiving, drew his text from Genesis 35 :1-15. He commended Akwa Ibom NAWOJ for deeming it necessary to return to God in thanksgiving at the shortest time possible and at the exact church that they enquired from God for victory, which is their bethel. The field superintendent, who described thanksgiving as a good thing and of significance, listed its numerous benefits to include: open doors, enlarged coast, access to God's promises and partaking in the divine provisions of God. The cleric who informed on the importance of journalists as gatekeepers, authentic purveyors of information and voice to the voiceless in the society, frowned at any attempt at whatever level to gag the media. He urged worshippers to always remember to redeem their vows, noting that God delights in the thanksgiving of Akwa Ibom NAWOJ. The service featured prayers for the editor, Comrade Helen, to succeed in office and the general wellbeing of NAWOJians in the state. In the same vein, more accolades have continued to trail the successful emergence of Udofa since her victory at the poll, the latest coming from the state commissioner for information and strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong. He applauded the unifying team spirit in the state chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), which led to the successful election of Comrade Udofa as the national secretary of the association in the just concluded "Minna 2020" Triennial National Delegates Conference. The information boss stated this when the new national secretary was presented to him by the state chairman of NAWOJ, Mrs Ekong, in the company of the state executive and "#Team HELEN" campaign organization. He expressed joy and satisfaction over her victory at the election on behalf of the state government as well as the management and the entire staff of the Ministry of Information and Strategy. The commissioner noted that an Akwa Ibom daughter has again reached the top at the national arena, with the position of national secretary, few weeks after the state was blessed with a daughter occupying the position of the national president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). The information helmsman maintained that the "Only God" mantra of Governor Udom Emmanuel worked in the successful election of Helen Udofa, stating that the governor is proud of Udofa's victory as it symbolises the Dakkada's spirit. He urged the National Secretary to work diligently towards meeting her set targets, advising that she should not allow her busy national schedule to affect her official assignments in The Pioneer Newspaper.
