RHAB-YESS Is Aimed At Discovering Young Entrepreneurs - Bassey

T he speaker of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly has said that the Aniekan Bassey Youth Entrepreneurship Support Scheme (RHAB-YESS) was aimed at discovering, mentoring and supporting young entrepreneurs to attain financial greatness. Mr Aniekan Bassey, who said this at the 11 th edition of the scheme at the conference room of the Assembly Complex in Uyo recently, added that the scheme was an initiative that complement Gov Udom Emmanuel's Enterprise Development Drive to discovering young entrepreneurs to be self-reliant and be financially independent to improving on their economic status. Represented by the member for Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency and the chairman, House Committee on Rural Development and Public Utilities, Dr Usoro AkpanUsoh, the speaker lauded Governor Emmanuel for bringing the DAKKADA philosophy to Akwa Ibom State, appealing to the beneficiaries to see their prize money as seed funds that will move their businesses to the next level.

He urged them to use their prize money judiciously into their respective businesses for expansion, advising them to be devoted and financially disciplined as that was the only way their businesses survive. The senior special assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters, Comrade Aniefiok Iwa Udofia, charged Akwa Ibom youths particularly the beneficiaries to strive to be self-reliant and enterprising by taking advantage of the ample business opportunities available in the state. Iwaudofia, who was a special guest at the event, commended the speaker for sponsoring the scheme, encouraging young entrepreneurs in the state to attain financial greatness, adding that the scheme has gone a long way in reviving the entrepreneurship spirit in Akwa Ibom youths. 

He further inspired the beneficiaries of the scheme  with a tale of his adventure and achievements in agriculture and pharmaceutical businesses, saying that he has employed over 48 youths. The senior special assistant urged leaders and well meaning citizens to emulate the exemplary qualities of the speaker in creating opportunities for the youths and the next generation of business men and women. The manager of the scheme, Mr Darlington Udobong who set the tone for the event, said being an indigene of Akwa Ibom State remains the only eligibility to the scheme. Udobong who is also the special assistant to the speaker on media and communications, added that winners are choosen through an online contest that allows the public to comment and vote on any video of their choice which must capture their biodata on what they do as an entrepreneur of which the winners will be selected from there. Winners of the 11 th edition are Esther Cosmos Michael, a fashion designer from Uyo Local Government was presented with a sum of N250,000 and Utibe Michael Akpan, a computer hardware repairer from Nsit Ibom Local Government Area who came second was presented with a sum of N150.000. Also, Victoria Daniel Jimmy, a fashion designer from Nsit Atai Local Government Area who came third was presented with a sum of N 100.000.
