The chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom
State Council has lauded the
chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria,
Akwa Ibom State Chapter,
Comrade Emmanuel Akpan for
prioritising the welfare of members of the association.
Comrade Amos Etuk was
speaking at the January 2021
congress of the Akwa Ibom
State Chapter of the Sports
Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) at the NUJ Press
Centre, Uyo.
Etuk who reacted to the report of the welfare committee
submitted by the chairman,
Comrade Ememobong Okon,
said the current executive of
SWAN in the state was the first
to set a template for the welfare of members.
Etuk, himself a member of
SWAN applauded the Welfare
Committee for the painstakingly approach in putting in
place the criteria for members'
benefits.
He,however advised that the
executive should set up modalities to ensure that the program is sustained.
Etuk suggested that money
should be deducted at source to ensure that no member was
left unattended to.
Receiving the report, the
chairman of SWAN, Comrade
Emmanuel Akpan appreciated
the committee for the job
weldone.
Akpan assured that the report would be implemented to
give members a sense of belonging.
The chairman of the Welfare
Committee, Okon had appreciated the executive for the
confidence reposed in them
and promised to work for the
benefit of members.
Some members of SWAN at
the congress gave the committee and the state executive
thumbs up for placing premium on the welfare of members and urged that the processes and implementation
should be transparent.
