Itam People Seek Face Of God

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic ravaging the world the Itam annual day and get-together celebration was low key. The event which took place recently at Itam civic centre site, kilometre 8 along Uyo/Itu Highway, featured solemn assembly tagged Redeemed for Dominion. The event organised by Itam Gospel Ministers' Forum in conjunction with Itam Clan Traditional Rulers' Council featured praise and worship songs ministrations, prayers, among others. In his welcome remarks HRM Etebom (Dr) Donald A Uboh, the clan head of Itam, sued for love as a panacea for peace and unity, reiterating the fact that the celebration does not witness the usual fanfare coloration due to the ravaging covid-19 world pandemic, even as he urged the people to maintain safety guidelines and protocols in order to avoid the spread of the disease. The Itam monarch maintained that the people should be law-abiding in their daily conducts, and love one another in order to bring about the much desired growth and development Itam is yearning for. He specifically mentioned the Itam civic centre project which has suffered a serious setback in completion due to lack of love and patriotic zeal among Itam citizenry. The royal father, however, solicited people support and cooperation towards government at all levels particularly Gov Udom Emmanuel's administration which has meant well for Itam. In the declaration of purpose of the event Bishop Victor Umehabasi, the chairman of the planning committee said that if is to seek God's face for Itam land and her people to maintain and sustain their status quo as those destined to be on top. Stressing that in order to do this the Itam people must allow love to be lost among themselves. The man of God did not mince words in adding that come 2023 the governorship position of the state is destined for Itu which Itam stands as the primary beneficiary, according to spiritual parlance. Rev Joshua Cleopas in his words of exhortation urged the people of Itam to maintain high level of righteousness, duelling on the Biblical injunction that "righteousness exalts a nation while unrighteousness is a reproach. He noted that Itam people are born great, therefore, they should maintain this status quo by refraining from diabdical and satanic tendencies. Besides, they should exhibit high level of love which would bring about unity which in turn would engender peace, a veritable ingredient for progress in any given land. Cleopas said that if only the people of Itam would turn away from satanic practices they would be able to maintain dominion in all spheres of life, be it political, economic, educational etc. The prayer session featured Rev. Paul Edet praying for the stability of Itam land if only the people would turn away from evil practices. Apostle Austrang Carage prayed for the royal fathers, security agents and the church. Rev. Bassey Ekanem prayed for educational advancement of Itam land. While Rev Itoro Daniel Dickson prayed for the political class and Bishop Victor Umohanasi prayed for the state governor and the local government chairman. Also speaking HRM Edidem Edet Akpan Inyang, the paramount ruler of Itu said that Itam is the largest among the five clans in Itu, that Itu has a treasure that would one day manifest at a given time. He reminded the people that civilization started in Itu, urging the people to continue with the prayers until the goal is achieved. He however eulogized the Itam people for maintaining the day and celebration for a decade now. He, charged the youths to maintain law and order in the domain so as were progress could be achieved. According to Mr Godwin Ime Etim, the chairman of the occasion, Itam as a part of Itu is strategically located geographically with rich maritime coastline and arable interland rich in abundant human and material resources. He pointed out that Itam is one of the areas in the state that could boast of a great number of industrial firms dotting the entire landscape which is a great blessing. He, however, regretted that despite these abundant blessings love is lost among the Itam people particularly in recent times. Etim's regret is built largely on the clan civic centre project which is in line with the United Nations sustainable millennium development goal agenda which has suffered a serious set-back over the years. He pointed out that the building project should not be left in the hands of the traditional chiefs, but rather should be the responsibility of the elite which Itam could boast of. He finally donated N5 million towards the building project.
