Ikot Abasi Council Chairman Restates Pledge To Partner Groups For Peace, Development
The executive chairman
of Ikot Abasi Local
Government Area, Elder Joshua Affia, has assured
Ikpa Ibekwe Youths Association
of his preparedness to partner
with them and other groups, towards fostering a continuous
peaceful co-existence and sustainable development in the area.
Elder Affia gave the assurance
at the Executive Chambers of
Ikot Abasi Local Government
Council while receiving in audience the executive members of
Ikpa Ibekwe Youth Association
who paid him a courtesy call.
According to him, it is the
commitment of his administration to partner with youths as
the future leaders to enable
them to be acquainted on the
way forward for peace and
tranquility to continually reign
as a panacea for development.
The Ikot Abasi Council
boss, who spoke of the importance of harmonious working
relationship as well as
partnering with youths, implored them to show respect
to constituted authority.
He advised them to always
shun every action inimical to
peaceful co-existence as no
development can thrive in an
atmosphere of rancour, adding
that youths should always be
vigilant in monitoring the
nooks and crannies of the area
to ensure that criminals do not
have a hiding place in the area.
Elder Affia thanked the Ikpa
Ibekwe Youth Executives for
deeming it fit to identify with
his administration and congratulated them for the successful clan youth election
through which they emerged,
adding that his administration
would assist them within the
scope of its limited resources.
Speaking earlier, the president of Ikpa Ibekwe Youth
Association, Comrade Inam
Chamberlin Inam, expressed
gratitude to the chairman of
Ikot Abasi Local Government
Area, Elder Affia, for emerging
as the substantive chairman of
the council at the recently local government election. They also commended the councilors for their landslide victory
at polls.
Comrade Inam said their visit
was basically to pledge the
cooperation of Ikpa Ibekwe
Youth Association to the new
administration and also to key
into his transformation agenda
towards the repositioning of
the area.
According to him, the body
was highly optimistic that as a
God-sent administrator at this
appropriate time, his tenure
would witness remarkable legacies for posterities.
He commended the council
chairman for the various steps
he has taken since his assumption of office, particularly for
creating synergies with
groups and the people towards participatory governance.
The president said the Ikpa
Ibekwe Youth would work assiduously to promote the economic and social wellbeing of
Ikot Abasi people and pledged
their unflinching support and
loyalty for him and his administration to accomplish his
lovely programme for the betterment of the area.
Comrade Inam used the opportunity to appeal to the
chairman to support them in
the equipping of their secretariat as it has been completed.
