A’Ibom Community Hails Gov Emmanuel, Luke On Community Dev

The president of Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja has felicitated with Governor Udom Emmanuel and member representing Etinan Federal Constituency, Mr. Onofiok Luke, over their strong commitment to community development in Akwa Ibom State.
Mr Aniefiok Ibah also appreciated the efforts of the lawmaker for identifying with the community.
The president who stated these while delivering his welcome address at the maiden Akwa Ibom Cultural Fiesta held in Abuja at the weekend, described the development in the state under the leadership of Governor Emmanuel as unprecedented.
According to him, “May I use this occasion to appreciate our grand patron and special guest of honour at this event, Mr Udom Emmanuel , the executive governor of our dear state, for his unprecedented accomplishment and giant strides across all sectors of the economy, especially the infrastructural and industrial revolution in Akwa Ibom State”.
Ibah said with the efforts of Governor Emmanuel so far, he has projected the image and as well uncovered the potentials of our people whereby making the state an economic hub in the comity of states.
He, however, appreciated the governor in the anticipation of the redemption of a pledge of a new coaster bus and N30 million he (the governor) made to the Community in October 2018 during a town hall meeting he held with the community.
The community boss assured the governor that Akwa Ibom Community in the FCT was a focused association, committed to partnering the government in advancing the great Akwa Ibom Project.
While appreciating the efforts and commitment of the House of Representatives member, Mr. Onofiok Luke, on community development, Ibah said the association was reading to partner all National Assembly members as well as political appointees from Akwa Ibom.
“We appreciate on a special note the National Assembly members from Akwa Ibom State that have identified with the community, especially Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, member representing Etinan Federal Constituency who have shown strong commitment to community development.”
He noted, “We declare our readiness to partnering all our National Assembly members and political appointees from Akwa Ibom State towards building a greater, stronger and united Akwa Ibom State.”
Responding, Governor Emmanuel who was represented at the occasion by the Akwa Ibom State Liaison officer in Abuja, Mr Edwin James, said that the fiesta had brought unity among the Akwa Ibom people.
“This has gone to show that all of us in Akwa Ibom are one. On behalf of the government of Mr Udom Emmanuel, I want to thank the organisers of this event and the 10 federal constituencies for coming together for this culture fiesta”, he said.
The governor’s representative said culture was the way of life of Akwa Ibom persons and described the cultural display, march past and the food exhibition by the 10 federal constituencies as fantastic, saying that the event would go a long way in uniting the state.
Speaking earlier, chairman on the occasion and former chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), Mr Ekpo Nta, represented by Dr Ime Umoh, described culture as a pillar of any society. He said Akwa Ibom State as any other society was governing by norms and culture.
“ If these pillars are not properly followed in our society, our culture will resemble a perfume with no smell. I believe that after this programme, the bond of unity, love and fruitfulness will prosper in us in Jesus’ name. I want to encourage all of us to show one another love and kindness and contribute positively to the development of Akwa Ibom.”
The former ICPC boss charged the people of the state not to abandon the culture of their constituencies or that of the state anywhere they found themselves. “Whether you reside in Akwa Ibom, Abuja, Lagos or anywhere in the world, please do not abandon your culture”, Nta added.
The senior special assistant to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Ita Enang, while unveiling the symbol of the Akwa Ibom Culture Fiesta congratulated the leadership of the community.
“When you have a people coming together, especially at this point of security challenges in the country, for me that means that the government is working. I congratulate the leadership of Akwa Ibom Community. I have gone round to see several food exhibition stands from the federal constituencies which have demonstrated the rich food and culture of the state”.
He called on the people of the state to support the government in power saying, even though we belong to different political parties, we are all one; if you are at the federal level, support APC and bring development to Akwa Ibom. If you are in PDP at the state level, support the PDP to move the state forward”, Enang added.
The fiesta which had its theme: Celebrating The Culture That Unites Us, featured cultural dances which included several masquerades, parade by the 10 federal constituencies from the state, the march past by Akwa Ibom women, youth corps members and inspection of different delicacies from the constituencies.
Also featured included the Awards of Excellence which were given to some sons and daughters of the state who had distinguished themselves in their chosen areas of endeavours, professions and careers at the event.
