Aged Widow Seeks Gov’s Wife Support Over Burnt House, Property, Livelihood

A victim of a fire outbreak in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has appealed to the wife of the State Governor, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel and the management of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to rescue her and her family from their untold predicament.
Mrs Rose Ogbodede Fynebone, an aged mother of No. 4 UAC settlement in Ikot Abasi Urban, had her entire building razed by fire during the distasteful outbreak.
The victim, who is a crayfish seller, made the passionate appeal while conducting newsmen around the devastated area engulfed by the inferno.
Crying profusely while narrating the unfortunate incident, Mrs Fynebone said her source of livelihood has been completely consumed by fire with properties worth millions of naira gone.
As a widow, I should not fold my hands and wait for manner to fall from heaven but rather must hustle for her daily bread and that of her children,” she said.
The aged woman, who is left with what she wore alongside with that of her children lamented her plight with that of her children adding that her source of livelihood was basically on crayfish smoking and little provision shop which sustained them to cope with the present economic predicament.
“With the age I am attending now which is 71 years, how am I going to start up again with my children, please help me out of these unfortunate situation,” she lamented.
Mrs Fynebone, said being able to afford meals for herself and her children now was very difficult. She said that all efforts made by the State Fire Service to contend the fire and save her house and property were all in vain.
The widow, who is squatting now in a kiosk within the area with her children, has taken to baking to make ends meet. She appealed to the members of the public and the Akwa Ibom State Government in particular to help her survive at this critical period.
