AKHA Speaker Sues For Unity In Uruan All Stars

The speaker of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly has described the victory of Breakfast Football match played in his honour by the Uruan All-Stars Football Club and Uruan Progressive Football Club as a good rallying platform for the unity of the people of the area.
The match which took place at the Methodist Primary School, Ituk Mbang, in Uruan Local Government Area recnetly ended in two goal a piece.
Speaking after the match, the speaker, Mr Aniekan Bassey, observed that the two teams played well by exhibiting their football skills and as well deserved the victory, adding that it was the beauty of the game.
He maintained that football unites all irrespective of one’s religious or political affiliations, stressing that Uruan must be seen in the threshold of unity, harmony and progress.
While charging the youths of the area to shun all societal vices and embrace sports for development and innovation in line with the “Dakkada Creed:, the speaker commended the organisers of the football competition and called on them to strive to keep the team and the people of the area together through sporting events.
He described his emergence as the speaker of the Seventh Assembly as the handiwork of God, explaining that the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly under his watch and leadership would be more collaborative and work in synergy with the people.
The speaker who also stopped at Nung Ikono Ufok Uruan to lay the foundation stone for the construction of All-Stars Family Club House, advised the youths of the area to live up to their responsibilities and protect all government facilities in the area including the proposed club house.
The chairman of Uruan All-Stars, Mr John Essienabasi, appealed to the speaker to assist in the promotion of talents discovered in the area through sports and as well requested for sports kits to enable the team to compete favourably with their contemporaries within and outside Akwa Ibom State.
The village head of Nung Ikono Ufok, Eteidung Joseph Attaessien, who was instrumental to the donation of the land to Uruan All-Stars, assured the speaker that the facility when completed and put to use would be adequately protected.
