Gov Emmanuel Tasks Top Public Officers On Routine Medical Check-ups

The Akwa Ibom government has advised top public service personnel to accept embarking on routine medical check-ups to have updates on their healthcare status and forestall emergency ailments.
Gov Udom Emmanuel, accompanied by the state deputy governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, gave the advice during the inauguration of the Judiciary Staff Clinic at the Judiciary Headquarters, Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo, Tuesday.
Emmanuel stated that the initiative of building a healthcare clinic to cater for the needs of the judiciary staff was an excellent step at complementing the agenda of the Akwa Ibom government on healthcare services, calling on public service employees to embrace regular medical checks on blood pressure, heart-beats and sugar levels.
The governor said the early detection of ailments would afford the individual to take up appropriate steps of controlling the continuation of sicknesses and set aside untimely loss of funds and lives, that the concept of regular medical checkups has remained very poor among the malefolk in the state.
He called on the womenfolks in Akwa Ibom to take up the responsibilities of encouraging the malefolk to toe the path of visiting medical institutions for regular checkups, adding that the state government was working hard to ensure proper equipping of medical institutions in the state.
Emmanuel called on the leadership of the Akwa Ibom Judiciary to carry on the training of staff in handling emergency situations to support the services expected from the clinic, adding that it was imperative for the people of Akwa Ibom to imbibe the attitude of feeding well using products from personal gardens and farms.
The state chief judge, Justice Godwin Abraham, said the clinic was built and equipped with standard facilities to help in giving services to the judiciary personnel, appreciating the response of the Emmanuel administration in making funds available to the judiciary arm of Akwa Ibom government.
Abraham said the judiciary was still looking forward on the executive arm of government in getting funds in the execution of lofty projects, assuring that the clinic would maintain high standard services.
He mentioned that the judiciary has made other impressive projects in the construction of high courts in Oruk Anam, Ukanafun, Essien Udim and Ibiono Ibom Local Government Areas, adding that there are also plans for high courts in Nsit Ubium and Mkpat Enin as well as a permanent Multi-Door Court Complex at Ikot Ekpene.
Abraham remarked that the creations of more high courts were based on legal needs in the state, announcing that a new administrative block has been completed to accommodate the needs of the judiciary administrative personnel.
