New Paramount Ruler Pledges Commitment To Peace, Security Of Mbo People

The newly inaugurated
paramount ruler of
Mbo Local Government, Ogwong Okon Asukwo Abang, has reiterated his commitment to the peace, security and welfare of Mbo people.
Ogwong Abang noted that as the royal father of Mbo LGA, his primary responsibility is that of maintaining peace and harmonious coexistence among his people.
“Let me reiterate that as the paramount ruler of Mbo Local Government Area, I am committed to ensuring that my people live in peace and are united to pursue a common goal of ensuring the development of the area,” he said.
Speaking with newsmen after his inauguration recently, Abang stated that peace and unity were necessary factors for a prosperous and productive nation, stressing that his leadership shall witness unparalleled bond of love and togetherness among citizens of the area.
The royal father condemned youth restiveness, communal feud, disagreement and disaffection as destructive elements which give birth to unending conflict and retrogression in human society.
He called on all facets of his kingdom to embrace and accommodate one another in order to achieve common development for the area.
While acknowledging that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, Abang, who is equally the Clan Head of Ebughu and the Village Head of Etisong Ebughu, called on well-meaning sons and daughters of the area to join hands in uplifting the age long value of love, care and compassion among humanity.
Born into Iyo-Abang family of Etisong Ebughu Village in 1959, Okon Abang who began his community service as the village youth leader from 1979 to 1985, stepped into the traditional council as the village council chairman from 1989 to 2007.
The Ebughu Clan Council of Chiefs in October 2017, selected him as Clan Head with official certificate of recognition issued by the Akwa Ibom State government on September 1, 2019.
It was on September 19, 2019, that Ogwong Abang stood an election at the Chambers of the Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs, Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo and got elected as the Paramount Ruler of Mbo local government area.
Meanwhile, the monarch who joined the Mbo Traditional Rulers Council in 2009, under the chairmanship of late Ogwong Edet Antai Essang III, a one-time paramount puler of the area, became a loyal servant to the immediate past paramount ruler of the Area, late Ovong Etim O. Isemin, Ahta Oro VII.
Ogwong Abang who holds a position in the World International Sacred Peace Movement, Ebughu Branch and is a BoT member, Mbo Family Heads Kingdom, is a former chairman, Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee in Akai Ebughu.
A renowned international merchant who crisscrossed the borders of Nigeria, Gabon, Benin Republic, Cameroon and other African states, blazed the trail as the most entertaining music artiste who composed and sang traditional folksongs (afiaha ayid) spanning between 1983 and 1995, when he gave his life to Christ.
His ascension has attracted goodwill messages from distinguished patriots of Mbo LGA, including the former president general of Oron Union, Sir Asuquo Inuikim Obon, KJW, Akpaha Oro and the current secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem.
